Privacy notice
Version 2026-10-22. This is a draft for the pilot and is being reviewed by a Nigerian lawyer.
EgoTrack helps traders keep a record of their sales, debts and savings. This notice says what we collect, why, who sees it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to keep it plain. If something is unclear, ask us at nwokoloebube21@gmail.com.
Who we are
EgoTrack is an early product built by Victor Oluebubechukwu Nwokolo in Lagos, Nigeria. It is not yet a registered company. Until it is, they are the people responsible for your data.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a password. We never see your password; it is stored in a protected form by our sign-in provider.
- Your shop: its name, your name, phone number, the market you sell in and what you sell.
- Your records: the sales, spending, debts, payments, receipts and savings goals you enter or confirm, and the history of any changes you make to them.
- Your team: if you give someone a login, we keep their email, their name as you entered it, and what they record, linked to your shop. They can see only what their role allows, and you can remove their login at any time.
- Your customers: the names and phone numbers you choose to enter. If your phone lets you pick contacts, we receive only the contacts you choose in the phone's own picker, never your whole contact list. Contacts you pick to help fill in names are kept on your phone for suggestions; a customer is only saved to your EgoTrack records when you record something for them.
- Your shop's location: only if you tap the button to save it and allow it on your phone. We keep the coordinates you save, to place your shop on a map. We never follow your phone's location in the background, and you can remove it any time under More.
- Photos of your notebook pages that you choose to scan. A photo is removed automatically 30 days after you confirm its page (90 days if you never confirm it). The rows you confirmed stay in your records.
- Your choices: what you agreed to here, and messages you send us.
- Technical records: error and security logs kept by our hosting providers. A PIN lock, if you set one, is kept only on your phone.
Why we use it
- To run EgoTrack for you: keep your records, read your pages, remind your customers, produce your receipts and your shop record. This is what you signed up for.
- To keep EgoTrack safe: spot misuse and fix faults.
- To count which screens and features are used (for example, that a sale was recorded, never what it was), so we can fix and improve them. These counts hold no amounts, names, items or messages.
- Only if you agree: to use your records, in a form that does not name you, to improve EgoTrack and to show you business tips that fit your shop.
- Only if you agree: to send you tips and updates.
You can switch the last two off at any time under More, then Privacy choices.
Who sees your records
- You. Your records are visible only to your account.
- A person you choose. If you make a private link to your shop record, whoever has that link sees totals only (no customer names, phone numbers or items) until it expires or you switch it off.
- Anyone with a receipt code, who can see that one receipt: shop, item, amount, date, and whether it was changed or removed.
- Service providers who help us run EgoTrack: Supabase (database and sign-in, in Ireland), Vercel (hosting), Google (reads the handwriting in a photo; we do not send customer names with it) and SendByte (emails). They may only use data to provide their service to us.
- The EgoTrack team, only as needed to give you support or fix a problem.
- The authorities, only if a court or a lawful authority orders us in writing. We will check the order and tell you unless the law forbids it.
We do not sell your data, and we do not give your records to anyone because they ask.
Sending data abroad
Our database is in Ireland and the reading service is run by Google in other countries. Your data therefore leaves Nigeria. We use providers that protect data and we send only what each needs.
How long we keep it
We keep your records while you use EgoTrack. Photos of notebook pages are kept until you delete the page or your data. You can delete everything at any time under More, then Delete my data. Records are then removed from our database. Backups kept by our providers are overwritten on their normal schedule.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, object to how it is used and withdraw your consent. Most of this you can do yourself in the app. For anything else, write to us. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Your customers' details
When you save a customer's name or number you are responsible for having a good reason to hold it, and for using it fairly, for example to remind them of a debt. Tell your customers that you keep a record. EgoTrack stores the details for you and does not use them for anything else.
Security
Your records are locked to your account in the database. Your sign-in is protected. Photos are kept in private storage. Every change to a record is written to a history that cannot be edited. You can lock the app with a PIN. No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you promptly.
Children
EgoTrack is for people aged 18 and over.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will ask you to agree again before you continue.
